A  Musashimitake shrine

 
Musashimitake shrineRecognized as one of the greatest holy sites constructed before Christ in the Kanto region, this shrine stands on the 929-meter summit of Mt. Mitake. In the Homotsuden (treasure hall), you can view yoroi (suits of armor) and tachi (swords) designated as national treasures, including the Akaito Odoshi Oyoroi (red thread armor).

B  Jindaikeyaki zelkova

 (special national treasure)
 
Jindaikeyaki zelkovaAt 1,000 years old, this sacred tree solemnly rises about 23 meters tall and has a trunk 8.2 meters around. It stands on the steep slope of the Mitake Shrine sando (approach).

C  Nagaodaira

 
NagaodairaAbout a 35-minute-walk from the cable car Mitake-san Station. The tenbou (observation deck) is a quiet breathing space from which you can look out over the beautiful mountains. In spring, enjoy the beautiful cherry blossoms.

D  Rock garden

 
Rock gardenCrystal clear waters run through this rocky stretch. It is about 1.5 kilometers long from Nanayo-no-taki waterfall to Ayahiro-no-taki waterfall. In summer, take in the sights of the delightful grass fields and mountains. In autumn, enjoy the spectacular autumn foliage views of the valley.
 

E  Nanayonotaki waterfall

 
Nanayonotaki waterfallThis waterfall is comprised of 7 small and large drops that send spray forth as the water gushes down 50 meters. The scene will make you feel refreshed and relaxed. A good place to enjoy your lunch box.
 

F  Ayahironotaki waterfall

 
Ayahironotaki waterfall Also known as Shugyo Misogi-no-taki (waterfall for lustration training), this waterfall has been used for Misogi ceremonies (lustration practices) at Mitake Shrine since ancient times. The water falls in a beautiful curtain from 10 meters above, creating an ethereal atmosphere.

G  Delicious spring water

 
Delicious spring water Delicious water springs forth from this spot, despite the need for boiling along the rock garden course! Iwashimizu coffee (a famous beverage made from mountain spring water) can be purchased in shops and is advertised on TV.
 

H  Flower carpet of rengeshomas

 
Flower carpet of rengeshomasThis is the largest flower carpet in the Kanto region with around 50,000 rengeshoma plants. Enjoy the pretty violet-colored blooms from late July until early September.
 

I  Tenboushokudou

Tenboushokudou (observation cafeteria)Enjoy fresh mountain produce at the observation deck cafeteria with panoramic views of the Kanto Plain. At night, enjoy the night views of Tokyo and Yokohama. On New Year’s Day, this spot offers a superb view of the new year’s first sunrise.

御岳Mitake Visitor CenterA facility for experiencing the nature and culture of Mt. Mitake. The center offers slide shows and exhibitions for children to experience nature hands-on. Please feel free to contact us for information on hiking.
 

K  Cable car

 
Cable carWe recommend using the cable car as part of your hike. The cable car ascends with a mean gradient of 22 degrees, and is the best cable car ride in the Kanto region. It takes you from Takimoto Station at the foot of the mountain to Mitake-san Station at the 831-meter summit in just 6 minutes.
 

L  Lift

 
Lift This single-seater lift connects the summit with the tenbou shokudou (observation cafeteria).
Experience the great nature of Mt. Mitake up close while you enjoy this 2-minute air walk.
